The Air France Lounge at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport Receives a smart_ Makeover

The highly anticipated remodel of YUL Airport’s Air France lounge has been unveiled and the reviews are pouring in. Operated by Plaza Premium Group, smart_ was tasked with combining Plaza’s operational requirements with Air France’s modern and sophisticated brand aesthetic. Utilizing a relatively compact existing floorplan, the challenge was to incorporate a long list of luxurious amenities. The new Air France lounge offers an elegant space for travellers to unwind, relax, catch up on work or indulge in the finest of French cuisines, leaving a lasting impression that both surprises and delights.

Following Air France’s iconic branding, notes of blue and red hues are found throughout the lounge, paired with warm woods and beautiful stone finishes. The interiors are contemporary and refined, featuring curvilinear forms and upscale yet comfortable furniture. Soft surfaces and interesting partitions are integrated throughout to lower acoustics and create privacy, resulting in a calm, pleasant and intimate environment. Lounge spaces are eclectic, sharing blurred lines with the daytime dining area. A seated bar becomes the focal point of the dining space, supporting an elevated liquor program as desired by Plaza Premium. Kitchen spaces have increased in size to accommodate a world class culinary experience, and a private night dining room uniquely contrasts the daytime spaces with its stark white interior and bold blue banquette. Washrooms and showers are clean and contemporary, including every amenity required for a holistic approach to wellness.

Infusing sense of place into the Air France brand DNA, locally celebrated lighting designer Lambert and Fils is featured throughout the lounge, including a show-stopping feature fixture lining the perimeter of the night dining room.

With an acute attention to detail, Air France lounge at Montréal–Trudeau International Airport is sure to please all the senses.
